Broccoli Seed Experiments, Round #3
The purpose of the experiments is to see if the sprouting and growth of broccoli seeds can be influenced using energy healing methods such as The Bengston Method. The experiments were inspired by Kayna who posted her broccoli seeds experiments on BengstonReseach.com and asked if someone could replicate them.Round #3 consists of 4 experiments that ran concurrently: 2 remote experiments (LCS and jmer) and 2 local experiments (vic and mags).

Lab Setting: Explanation and initial setup of each experiment
From left to right, at top: jmer's L, R, LCS's L, R, (with water jars beneath them), vic's, a commercially available homoeopathic solution (HS) (decoy of product beneath them), cotton treated (TC), untreated control (X), with bottle filled with tap water to be used as a common source. Bottom left to right: magnets (mags), untreated control (X), refrigerator magnet (M), neodymium magnet (MM).
Pictures of the dishes were taken daily and posted on a website so that the remote influencers could monitor progress. PDF's, similar to the reports in the links below, were also updated periodially with pictures so that the remote influencers could compare day to day changes.
LeastComicStanding - Remote Water Treatment (LCS)
Initial Setup
There will be 2 dishes with 50 seeds each marked L and R for left and right, 2 separate jars of water marked L and R, and 2 small plastic cups marked L and R used to gently top off the water. The remote influencer, LeastComicStanding (Reddit username), will get pictures (similar to above, but individual images) of the jars of water (water originally from the same source) and choose 1 to treat remotely. As the experimenter vicsmyth (Reddit username) will be blinded as to the choice. vicsmyth's only intention will be that the experiment is a success, showing a statistically significant difference.
LeastComicStanding was able to treat the water with any modality of choice, any intention of choice, any frequency of choice and start treating it anytime prior to the start of the experiment, Tuesday, Feb 20th, 12pm Chicago Time (GMT-6).
jmerdsoy - Remote Treatment of Entire Dish (jmer)
Initial Setup
There will be 2 dishes with 50 seeds each marked L and R for left and right, both will be watered from the same source. The remote influencer, jmerdsoy (Reddit username), will get pictures (similar to above, but individual images) of the 2 dishes and treat 1 entire dish rather than just the water. As the experimenter vicsmyth (Reddit username) will be blinded as to the choice. vicsmyth's only intention will be that the experiment is a success, showing a statistically significant difference.
Similar to LeastComicStanding, jmerdsoy was able to treat the dish with any modality of choice, any intention of choice, any frequency of choice. A week prior to the experiment starting, the picture of the dishes only had the seeds in it. Once the water was added the water on Feb 20th, vicsmyth posted picture os the individual dishes with water for jmerdsoy to download and treat.
vicsmyth - Local Treatment of Cotton and Homeopathic Solution (vic)
There will be 3 dishes with 50 seeds each. vicsmyth is going to treat some cotton (using his patent pending cotton angel) and have the treated dish (T) sit on the cotton angel. A commercially available homeopathic solution (HS) will be added to the water in the dish marked (M), 1 dose daily. The cotton angel will be treated multiple times a week, if not daily. The unmarked control (X) will be untreated.
All 3 dishes were filled and topped off with untreated water from the same container, from the same source, the same water as will be used in jmer's experiment.
The photo of HS is a decoy of the actual product, as vicsmyth did not ask the manufacturer permission to use the product name.
vicsmyth - Refrigerator magnet vs neodymium magnet (mags)
Initial Setup
The magnet that vicsmyth used in the previous experiment was a cheap refrigerator magnet from the dollar store which has a magnetic field rated at 10-50 gauss, earth's magnetic field is 0.5 gauss. vicsmyth just purchased a really strong neodymium, rare-earth magnet that's rated at 1,000 gauss. So the experiment had an untreated control (X) comparing it to a refrigerator magnet (M) and the neodymium magnet (MM).
All 3 dishes were filled and topped off with untreated water from the same container, from the same source, the same water as will be used in jmer's experiment.
General Discussion of Results: Initial expectations and outcomes.
For the two remote experiments, LCS and jmer, the theory was that two of the dishes would be similar to each other and the 2 known controls from vic and mags. So the two treated dishes would stand out statistically. That, however, was not the case as, out of the entire group, LCS's dishes and jmer's dishes showed the most enhanced growth that was statistically significant!vic's experiment was an attempt to replicate previous experiments where vicsmyth treated a dish with water, plus a dish with the commercially available homeopathic solution (HS) was added. In previous experiments where vicsmyth treated either the entire dish or the water, and in an experiment with pinto beans, the treated dishes showed inhibited growth compared controls. The theory was that this trend would continue. However, that was not the case as vic's treated dish showed enhanced growth compared to the control. HS did not show a promising result.
The experiment with the magnets looked promising at the outset, MM showing enhanced growth. However, by the end they seemed to have evened out. A previous experiment using a refrigerator magnet inhibited the growth. In this experiment the weaker refrigerator magnet again inhibited the growth.
