Finally, Su broke the silence: Does anyone have any questions or comments?
Nu: I have twenty-seven questions!
Cu: Me too, what are all these things that you are talking about?
Mu: Religion, God?
Du: Hell, he?
Lu: This is from a night dream about a daydream?
Bu: All this makes my head spin.
Tu: Where should we begin?
Cu: Ru, where would you like to being?
To which Ru responded with this monologue:
First off, you must understand that this is from a rather unusual sort of daydream that we call a simulation. So much of it, unless you actually experience it, will sound very strange as the world in this simulation is quite strange.
Maybe I'll start with the first question: What is religion? In this strange world where it seems that everything is out of control, many of the beings, who are called 'human beings' or 'people', try to make sense out of this strangeness. One of the things that they came up with is religion. A religion is a group of people that have the same beliefs about the strange world. They try to answer the question of how God, who created the world to be very Good, could let the world get so bad. And they have certain practices that they do. The Eight Day Adventists is one such group that I used to belong to when I was young.
God, is their word for ONE. Here, in our land, we understand ONE. There, God is very difficult to understand. Many of the people there view God as a supreme being, like one of the human beings, but with super powers. Then the question is, how does this super being allow bad to exist.
And so, in the religion of the Eight Day Adventists, they tell the story of how this God fell asleep, and while He slept, His world went to hell. One of the practices that we used to do was to wake up early each morning before the sun came up and shout out to God, "Wake up! It's the Eighth Day! Wake up and fix everything back up again!" After doing this for many, many days, it seemed a little foolish after a while. Besides, our neighbors who did not belong to this religion, complained that we were waking them up each morning with all our shouting.
How do I explain hell? If you take our Land where everything is in perfect harmony and make the opposite of it, where everything is in complete chaos -- that would be hell. But that world was not pure hell, it was a mix of good things and bad things.
The words 'he' and 'his' refer to one of the two types of human beings. There are males, referred to as 'he' and 'his', and females, referred to as 'she' and 'her'. Most people viewed God to be a male, so they referred to God as 'He' and 'Him'.
After Ru completed the monologue, once again, everyone was stunned into silence.
Finally Cu said: My head is also spinning from this.
Nu: We wanted to invite everyone over to our house for dinner tonight.
Lu: Mu created some new music.
Su: Maybe we could hear it after dinner?
Du: Are there any parts for us to play?
Ru: Sounds like an enjoyable way to spend the evening as my head is also spinning from talking about my dream.
Tu: Maybe we can continue to answer more questions after dinner and music, if anyone is interested?
To be continued...
